Here at Calvary by the Sea, we give of our financial gifts because we believe in the public work and mission of Jesus Christ! Everyone is inherently loved, welcomed and included. The local parish is the gathered people of God called to respond to the cries of injustice.
*We give because we want to see this world become more just, more equitable and more inclusive.
*We give because we want to stand with the oppressed, the exploited, the mistreated and the poor.
*We give because our Lutheran church expression boldly announces such things, intentionally lives into Christ's words and intentions for all creation; just, inclusive, antiracist and flourishing.
The risen Christ invites us to be good stewards of all the gifts we receive. The word steward is rooted in the Greek word oikonomos, which means "manager." In other words, as followers of Jesus we are managers of the resources that God has entrusted us.
God is the creator and owner of everything, and God has made us stewards of our gifts and blessings. Moreover, God wants our whole lives: time, talent, and financial treasures. We give out of that generous flow and realize that giving of our financial gifts is part of our daily worship.
