Wee Love to Dance with Claudia Heu

Claudia Parisien-Heu, teacher/choreographer, is offering dance class to all three, four and five year olds of Calvary by the Sea School.  Claudia has extensive experience teaching dance to young people.  She is currently teaching dance at Punahou Dance Academy, KCAA Preschool and the Honolulu Club.  She received her dance training in Los Angeles and appeared on the Carol Burnett Show on CBS.  Locally she danced on the TV show Magnum PI, commercial spots for McDonalds and Viva Milk and for Industrial and Convention shows at all the major hotels in Waikiki and on the outer islands.  She was the assistant director for musical productions at Diamond Head Theatre for six years.

Claudia will be teaching a 12 week dance session that will begin Tuesday, January 30 and finish Tuesday, May 1, 2007No classes 3/20 and 3/27 because of spring break.  Parents are invited to attend the last class on May 1 and enjoy watching the children perform the songs and dances they've learned.  Classes are divided into two groups.

Tuesdays
2:45-3:15:  3 & young 4 yr olds
3:30-4:00:  the older 4 & 5 yr olds

* Be aware that sports and dance share many skills in common.  Dance can be great coordination and agility training, also muscle development useful for soccer and other team sports children will be entering as 5 & 6 year olds.  Boys are welcome in dance class.  We have had many boys at Calvary by the Sea School participate and enjoy the dance training.

Full session tuition is $96.00, to be paid at the time of registration.  Please make checks payable to Claudia Heu and submit payment to school office.  New students sign a registration form and submit with check.

Classes will cover the elements of dance and tumbling.  There will be warm up exercises, basic ballet steps, simple arm movements and an awareness of space as movements travel on a straight line, a diagonal, a circle, etc.  Children learn the discipline of dance as they develop their mind and body.  They also experience the fun when expression leads to the discovery of self.  Every semester we work on different skills and routines.  If your child has danced before be assured they will continue to learn new things.

I look forward to a fun and productive dance session!
