Walk-a-thon Information

Walk-a-thon

Date:  Friday, May 11th, 2007
Start Time:  9:00am - first age group starts

Set-Up:
If you are volunteering to help in the set up of the Walk-A-Thon, please plan to arrive by 8:00am.

The Run:
Children will be grouped according to age.  They will walk, jog, skip, or run around a set course as many times as they can in a pre-determined time frame.  Volunteer parents will tally the number of laps completed and sponsor (pledge) sheets will be sent home with totals and amounts to be collected.  Every child will receive a ribbon of recognition for participating in the Walk-A-Thon.  We hope you will attend!

  • Toddler Class 5 minutes
  • 2-1/2 to 3 yr olds 5 minutes
  • 3 to 4 yr olds 7 minutes
  • 5 to 6 yr olds 10 minutes

Sponsorship:

  • Children will recruit sponsors to donate money for each lap completed. (students in the past have run as many as 12-28 laps!)
  • Return sponsor sheet by Thursday, May 10th.
  • A collection envelope and your completed sponsor sheet will be ready for you by the end of the day.
  • Collect all monies and return to School by Friday, May 18th.

Volunteers:

  • Parent volunteers are needed to help set up, mark the runners, tally during the event, pass out refreshments, and clean up afterward.  If you have not already signed up to help volunteer, please do so at morning drop off or when you pick up your child in the afternoon.  Sign-up sheets are on the attendance clipboards.

Ribbon Award:

  • After the Walk-A-Thon is completed, each child will be presented a ribbon of recognition for participating in this event.
