Note about Wednesday Chapel from Pastor Tim

Posted on Thu, Sep 25, 2008

Dear Families of Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church Preschool,

As you know, we have chapel every Wednesday morning in the sanctuary from 8:30 to about 8:50.  We greet each other at the door and reverently go to our seats and begin with a song and prayer.  This year, we will be learning the stories of the Bible during chapel and you can be part of our Bible Journey.  Each week we will be reading a story from The Beginners Bible, Timeless Children's Stories as told by Karyn Henley and illustrated by Dennas Davis, published by Zondervan.  This is a wonderful little Bible that you can also read with your children each week at home.  My goal is that our children will gain some foundational understandings of the stories of the Bible, for example, God loves us, every good thing we have is a gift of God, we are to love and respect our neighbor and our environment, and God is with us always.  We will begin our journey with the stories of the Old Testament.

I would recommend purchasing a copy of this Bible for your family and read along with your child each week.  The Bible can be purchased at Barnes and Noble bookstore or at amazon.com.

Here is a list of the upcoming chapel texts:

September 24:  The Special Helper
October 1:  A Sad Day (Chapel led by Tom Poole)
October 8:  The First Rainbow
October 15:  A Tall Tower
October 22:  A New Land (Chapel by Tom Poole)
October 29:  The Promise

On the Wednesdays that I am off campus, either Tom Pool our Liturgical Arts Coordinator or our school director Denise Acklin, will be leading chapel.

If you have any questions about our chapel service and how you can supplement your child's experience feel free to contact me at the church office at 377-5477.

May God bless you and your children on your own faith journey,

Pastor Tim Mason
